Hugh Churchward

Hugh Churchward is a Somatic Psychotherapist and an Orthobionomy Practitioner, working out of clinics in Sydney and Wollongong and as a member of the Body Focused Team at STARTTS. Hugh developed an enduring interest in embodied trauma after living and studying in the UK. Here he was in contact with refugees from the former Yugoslavia, British army peace-keepers and journalists covering the conflict. He witnessed the devastating effects those experiences had on them. On returning to Australia in the mid 1990’s Hugh Churchward enrolled in a 5 year training in Somatic Psychotherapy. Hugh then went on to study Ortho-Bionomy® which has become the cornerstone of his approach in working towards trauma and chronic pain resolution. This is coupled with his somatic psychotherapy training and 20 years practicing mindfulness to produce a very effective somatic approach to trauma resolution. Hugh is a member of Society of Ortho-Bionomy® Australia (SOBA) and PACFA.
