Kylie's lifelong dream was to be a concert pianist. While studying creative arts at Wesley Institute she became interested in theology, counselling and psychology and how these subjects meet with the arts.
Realising it was very hard to get a job as a concert pianist, Kylie decided to do a Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy to combine her skills in music and counselling. This two-year postgraduate course gave her training as a music therapist and registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association.
She went on to do a PhD studying the effects of music therapy during an acute psychotic episode as well analysing the effects of music on brainwave activity.
Kylie now works as a music therapist for Ramsay Health Care and is a research associate for the SJSC Research Centre, at the University of Western Sydney.
