Psychotherapists and psychoanalysts rate their supervision as the most valuable aspect of their professional development (Hart GM, 1982). Yet supervision as a focus of study has received relatively little attention compared to the myriad of other concepts and processes scrutinized in the psychotherapeutic literature.
Although this situation has been partially remedied in the last two decades, the supervisees intimate and immediate perspective continues to remain less well documented. The majority of the literature has dealt with supervision from the perspective of the mature supervisor ( Lane, CL 1990).
It is the purpose of this talk to attempt to redress this imbalance by presenting a number of supervisees' experiences. Seven vignettes are presented.
