Caring and Treatment in Psychotherapy.

Dr George Lianos

Dr Lianos presents a single clinical vignette in some detail in order to illustrate the concept of caring in psychotherapeutic practice.

Some questions that might arise in peoples’ minds could be: Is caring for someone in therapy different from caring for someone outside therapy? Should being a good psychotherapist preclude one from being a good human being? Does being a “professional” affect ones capacity to care? Do professional expectations enhance or restrict ones capacity to care?
This talk promises no answers.
