Development of a personality projective test: a king and his people

E Zhang

Objective:To develop a personality projective lest to explore individuals' emotion, feeling and attitude to and the relationship with the authority and the individuals' personality.

Methods: Based on the theories of projective test, authority image, self image and animal image, 20 college students were randomly selected as the subjects and the theory structure and the preliminary test were developed. The 'a king and his people' personality projective test was composed of two parts: the drawing test and the story-telling test. The subjects were asked to draw a picture with animal images to represent a king (an authority) and his people (the subject himself) and describe a story about the king and his people. At the same time, the subjects were tested with the Fear of Authority Questionnaire as criterion validity. Results: The criterion validity is -.504, P < 0.05.

Conclusion: The personality projective test was developed and it was suitable for clinical usage, for instance, to understand the attitude of the client to psychotherapist.
